On August 12th, 2009, eighteen brave (and chubby) individuals gathered at Gangplank in Chandler, Arizona to begin an epic weight-loss challenge.
They each put in $100, and after eight weeks, the winner takes all.
This is their story.
So we had our unofficial weigh in yesterday, and while I had weighed my self every day and new I hadn’t lost much, to my surprise, I had gained 3 lbs. But how is that possible? I have been dieting. I have been working out. Just this morning my belt had no more notches to use. The scale must be broken.
Truth? You might gain weight and that is a good thing. We didn’t do Body Mass Measurements for this event, but as I am sure you aware, muscle does weigh more than fat and working out will create muscle.
Why am I posting this? Because I want to help encourage those out there, who may not have lost the 14lbs that some one else did. That the event is 8 weeks long and your body should go through some pretty crazy changes. Don’t give and keep working. Even if you don’t win, you are getting healtier and doing one of the best things you can for yourself.
On a fun and kind of disturbing note, if Conrey loses 14 lbs a week, that will be 112 lbs total, placing him at around 150 pounds. At that wieght he would be able to wear Jade’s girl pants.
